First, a disclaimer; while I don’t claim to represent the Church or the official standpoint of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (what I usually incorrectly call “LDS Church”), I consider myself a faithful Latter-day Saint, and I…

So, it is time to write about it again. I actually read my previous Faith posts — some of which may be difficult to discern, because they don’t come right out and say, “this is about Faith!” Well, now, this…
Two disclaimers: I am not at all party inclined, so if any examples seem unbalanced to you, perhaps the unbalance is with you? No, really, I tried to take examples of both political parties’ representatives follies for the most egregious…
Just a little reminder that we must yield to the enticings of the Holy Spirit and become submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love and so forth. Also remember that Paul tells Galatians that the fruits of the Spirit are love, peace, joy, patience, kindness and so forth. All kinds of good things. Even when we feel hurt or have difficult matters to discuss, we will always be more successful with a patient and loving approach, trying to remember to foster love for all of our brothers and sisters. That is what the Lord expects of us, but that will be a lifetime project for any one of us.
Let me say first off that I have not participated in any political campaign for or against same-sex marriage in any legislation. Likely that is because it hasn’t really come up as an issue where I vote.
I define “hobosexuality” as wandering from partner to partner. Something that is almost the norm to a very large group of the population.
I also would like to plead for sane reasoning from all sides (remember the Lord inviting Job to “reason with” him?). By shouting past each other we can not come to any constructive results, but only create bad blood.
A slow personal recap of a couple of impressions from Saturday Morning Session. It is a privilege to follow these live from very far geographically.
Part religious pondering, part political polemic, this is an indictment of the Gospel of Wealth. Not party politics, though! But if you are interested, I take a bit crusty look at the culture that insinuates that if you’re poor or sick, it’s because you’ve earned it (see Mosiah 4:16-23).
Just in the case that someone got the wrong impression from my first edition of this. I’m presenting things in a little bit different manner, but essentially I’m saying the same thing: There are times when we need to go against the social pressure if we wish to obey the commands of our conscience.
I once read a good tag line from someone, so good that I remember it word for word: “In the process of childproofing our world we may neglect the more important duty of worldproofing our children.” Let’s speak up — at home, and especially at home, or wherever we have people around them, let’s speak up and let them know of our testimony.
So we are supposed to become perfect? Well, it’s going to be a long project, and we need patience. But peace can be with us all the way, the peace that the Savior promised to give to his followers.
